Spending this two weeks on the banks of the harbor in Sydney has been a fantastic break and a much-needed battery recharge. I feel so lucky to have been able to do this with my kids, but my sweet husband, work, Los Angeles, winter, and reality beckons. postcard from Bondi Beach, Australia

Bondi Beach is home to the one of Sydney's many ocean pools. They've been built into the side of cliffs up and down the coast. Surf, sand and the odd shark washes in. By far the fanciest one is the Bondi Iceberg Baths, made famous the group who swim there all through the winter. (more…)

"Seven miles from Sydney and a thousand miles from care" was the slogan used to promote Manly as a vacation spot from as early as the late 1800's, as Australia's most popular seaside resort. Way before the iconic Harbour Bridge was built, Sydney-siders made their way to the surf beach by ferry.  (more…)

This New Year's Eve was a special one for me. I was surrounded by my family in Australia. I'm usually so far away during the holidays. There were three generations, all happy to be spending the last night of 2013 together; eating great food, surrounded by the boom of fireworks echoing along Sydney's waterways.  (more…)
