My living room needed simplifying. It had a lot going on but nothing was really working.
There were cracked travertine floor tiles featuring an inset border in a contrasting color. The faux rocks on the fireplace were old and dated (see story here). There was textured stucco and decorative beams running vertically up the walls.
In keeping with the rest of the remodel, I had the walls painted white. The floor tiles are a matte grey and natural canvas roman blinds make it cozy at night. Long, low sofas and a large square coffee table resting on a cream shag-pile area rug create a streamlined but comfy space for family and friends to hang out.
