I love shirt-dresses. They’re a classic and can easily be dressed up or down with accessories. My problem, is that they’re often cut too short. And even when I find one long enough, it scoops so high at the sides that you’re showing way more leg than you probably want to, especially if you decide to add a belt.
My sisters wear a lot of dresses, while I tend to go for separates. When I was on a recent trip with my sister, Kylie, she reminded me that you can’t really go wrong when you put on a dress. You look instantly put-together. You only need to add shoes and a bag, and you’re good to go. They’re great for those days when you’re running late or your judgement is a little off — like when you’re seeing a friend from the past, or going to any kind of reunion. Wear a dress!
This season, chambray shirt-dresses are back in a big way — and for Spring/Summer 2017, you can leave your belt at home. A chambray shirt-dress has to be the ultimate casual no-brainer. Team with flat sandals, suede booties, or colorful wedges.
I hit the stores for the big try-on. Again, there were length issues. See the finalists and my ultimate winner, below!
J.Crew (comes in regular & tall)
And my winner is…
J.Crew’s chambray shirt-dress. It has comfy pockets and comes in regular and tall sizes…and it’s on sale right now!
