Happy Thanksgiving

November 26, 2015

I have so much to be thankful for that I got a bit overwhelmed this Thanksgiving.

We started our day in the usual way. Curled up in front of the fire watching the Macy’s Parade on TV.

My youngest decided to prepare breakfast from a recipe he’s been trying out – Cinnamon Toast the Right Way. It is delicious and I’ll show you the steps he took and the end result below. It was a lovely lazy way to start the day.

A few of us walked the dog down to the beach and back before getting ready for an early dinner.

With family here from Australia, we decided to eat somewhere different from our usual meal at home. I really wanted to find an iconic spot to show off our city at it’s best. The top of the Huntley Hotel gave us great views over L.A. It was beautiful to see the Santa Monica mountains, the bay, Malibu, and downtown Los Angeles as the sun went down. We were well looked after, which allowed us to enjoy being together and eat a very special meal.

When we took turns to say what we were grateful for I simply had no words (and a few embarrassing tears which seemed to come from nowhere). There’s so much. We have very close family members contemplating making the move from Australia to Los Angeles. We’ve had a wonderful year of good health, interesting work opportunities, a lot of fun watching our kids grow and excel in their various activities, and the joy of spending time with dear friends. What more could any person wish for?

I hope your Thanksgiving was filled with love, happiness, family, friends and yummy food.
