DIY sea foam & silver mani

March 20, 2014

I’ve been wearing my nails a little longer lately. It’s funny how easy they are to grow when you take better care of them (see caring for your nails post here)!

I love the dark polishes but they tend to look a lot better on shorter nails. Nails can look a bit scary when they’re long and black, or charcoal, so I’ve been looking for colors that work with the extra length (I’m only talking a few millimeters!).

This silver and sea foam style is very easy to do. It’s a chic look without being over-the-top. You can make every nail the same or leave your ring finger in the metallic polish only.

Start off with fresh, squared-off nails. Apply a clear base coat, or skip straight to the silver polish. The one I’m using is Revlon’s Magnetize. Let the polish dry and even cure for half an hour or so before applying regular clear tape covering the bottom quarter of each nail (check out a similar technique on this previous post). Make sure the tape is stuck down firmly.

Apply 1 – 2 coats of your sea foam color then remove the tape as soon as you finish.

After a another 15 minutes, apply a coat of clear polish over each nail and allow to dry completely.
