sunny corner

July 31, 2013

This sunny corner of our home wasn’t horrible before (see before photo below), but it was a bit blah. My goal was to make it a place that attracted us to it with comfy chairs, a good solid table, and an area rug to make it feel cozy.

These sunny, yellow chairs have been custom covered in outdoor fabric to make them hard-wearing, and stain and fade resistant. I created an area rug from Flor carpet tiles which is easy and fun to do and extremely practical to maintain. I bought the table second-hand so we don’t feel we need to be too careful with the surface. I love having coffee with a friend and cozy dinners for four in this beautiful, new, sunny corner.

sun room - beforeWhile this corner was ok before, it was devoid of color, warmth, or softness, and it was impossible to make the area private after dark. I replaced the original Noguchi paper lantern with a bigger one, which works better proportion-wise with the larger scale furniture.
